Mini Nature Reserve works to restore and preserve nature in urban environments through landscape projects that engage, educate and empower the community. Founded in 2018, our mission is to create sustainable green spaces that benefit both wildlife and local communities.
About the Organization
MiniNature Reserve is a grassroots environmental organization dedicated to transforming urban landscapes into thriving ecological corridors. Founded by a group of passionate environmentalists and community leaders in Oxnard, California, we believe that every small space has the potential to make a big environmental impact.
Our work focuses on creating mini-reserves in urban areas – small but strategically placed natural habitats that serve as stepping stones for wildlife migration, carbon sequestration sites, and community gathering spaces. These pocket-sized ecosystems demonstrate that environmental conservation doesn't require vast wilderness areas.
Through partnerships with local schools, businesses, and residents, we've successfully established over 50 mini-reserves throughout Ventura County. Each project is designed to address specific local environmental challenges while providing educational opportunities for community members of all ages.
